A young talent at Manchester United, Dan Gore, previously embroiled in a heated training ground incident, appears to be on the cusp of a redemption opportunity.

This Tuesday night, Old Trafford will host a third-round Carabao Cup showdown between United and Crystal Palace. The Red Devils, reigning champions of the competition, enter the match on the heels of a pivotal 1-0 victory over Burnley. Erik ten Hag’s squad, coming off three consecutive losses, currently finds themselves in the ninth position in the Premier League standings.

In contrast, Palace occupies the tenth spot, trailing United by one point, despite being plagued by injuries, including key players like Michael Olise and summer signings Matheus França and Jefferson Lerma. Hodgson’s side showcased resilience in their previous Carabao Cup fixture, rallying from behind to defeat Plymouth 4-2, with notable contributions from Odsonne Édouard and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Following a lackluster 0-0 draw against Fulham over the weekend, Hodgson voiced concerns about the team’s limited resources heading into Tuesday’s encounter, exacerbated by an injury spree.

United, too, has grappled with injuries in the early stages of the season but will benefit from the return of Mason Mount and Harry Maguire, both back in training.

Additionally, during training at Carrington, United’s youth prospect, Dan Gore, was spotted, hinting at a potential appearance in Tuesday’s cup match. Gore, an attacking midfielder, garnered attention from Ten Hag during the preseason but is perhaps best remembered for a past training ground altercation with Anthony Martial.

In November of the previous year, with a substantial portion of Ten Hag’s squad participating in the World Cup, the 18-year-old talent was invited to train with the senior team. However, things did not unfold as smoothly as anticipated.

According to the Mirror, Gore delivered a robust challenge on Martial, defying the directive against tackling established first-team players. Tempers flared, and Martial, the fiery French star, reacted with anger before they were separated.

Shortly thereafter, Martial extended an apology, bringing tranquility back to Carrington.
