Dortmund Fears Arsenal May Snatch Prolific Striker Serhou Guirassy
Borussia Dortmund is concerned that Arsenal might secure the signing of Stuttgart’s prolific striker Serhou Guirassy, as reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
Arsenal’s Urgent Striker Search
Arsenal is on the hunt for a top-tier striker to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, with Mikel Arteta prioritizing this position. Their interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko was thwarted when he renewed his contract with the Bundesliga club.
Guirassy’s Market Appeal
Florian Plettenberg revealed that Arsenal is now in contention to sign Guirassy after the striker informed Stuttgart of his desire to leave this summer. Non-German clubs have the advantage of acquiring Guirassy for a mere €20 million, thanks to his release clause.
On Tuesday, Plettenberg added that Dortmund is particularly worried about Arsenal swooping in to secure Guirassy’s signature. Despite Guirassy’s decision still pending, Dortmund has expressed their strong interest, positioning him as their top target for the summer. Stuttgart anticipated Guirassy’s departure, maintaining fair and open negotiations throughout.
Intense Competition for Guirassy
Christian Falk, a journalist from Sport Bild, confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Guirassy, joining the race alongside Dortmund and AC Milan. Although Chelsea is no longer pursuing the Guinea international, the competition remains fierce.
Falk elaborated that Guirassy’s release clause stands at €20 million for non-German clubs, slightly less for Bundesliga teams. Guirassy, who netted 30 goals in 30 games last season, presents an enticing option for many clubs. Arsenal, having missed out on Sesko, might prioritize securing another striker, with Guirassy firmly on their radar.
Arsenal’s Strategic Moves
In addition to targeting Guirassy, Arsenal has been active in the transfer market, with potential moves for other key players to enhance their squad depth. The outcome of this transfer saga could significantly impact Arsenal’s lineup and performance in the upcoming season.
