Nketiah to Fulham and European Friendlies Update
As the European Championships approach, many Arsenal players are representing their nations in warm-up friendlies.
Kai Havertz led Germany against Ukraine, featuring Oleksandr Zinchenko. While Zinchenko had a stellar first season at Arsenal with his innovative attacking style, his recent campaign was marred by injuries and a loss of form. The match ended in a goalless draw, with Havertz playing for an hour before being replaced by Thomas Mueller, and Zinchenko completing the full 90 minutes.
Scotland faced Gibraltar, securing a comfortable 2-0 victory. Kieran Tierney made an appearance in the second half, substituting for Andrew Robertson. Tierney’s loan spell at Real Sociedad was disappointing, plagued by injuries and a subsequent loss of his starting position. With Zinchenko potentially leaving Arsenal, Tierney might have a chance to reclaim his place in the team.
England triumphed over Bosnia with a 3-0 win, but Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, and Aaron Ramsdale were not selected for the match.
On the transfer front, Fulham is reportedly interested in signing Eddie Nketiah for £30 million. After losing Aleksandr Mitrovic to Saudi Arabia, Fulham has struggled to find an effective replacement. Raul Jimenez’s signing from Wolves seemed promising, but he hasn’t returned to form since his serious head injury. Carlos Vinicius has been average, Rodrigo Muniz showed brief promise, and the loan of Armando Broja from Chelsea was unproductive.
For Nketiah, a move to Fulham could provide the consistent playing time he needs, rather than remaining on Arsenal’s bench. Currently earning £100,000 a week, his wages could be a potential hurdle for Fulham, but a move could benefit both parties.
