Arsenal’s Chance to Snag Top European Passer for £20m This Summer

Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly vying to secure one of Europe’s elite passers during the summer transfer window. This coveted midfielder could be available for a surprisingly low price.

Mikel Arteta’s squad came tantalizingly close to clinching the Premier League title, only to be edged out by Manchester City. Determined to go all the way next season, Arteta has pinpointed a key midfield reinforcement, available for just £20 million.

Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, statistically among the best passers in Europe, has emerged as a prime target. According to Goal, the 25-year-old’s contract with Monaco expires next year, presenting a potential last-chance opportunity for the French club to secure a significant transfer fee.

Arsenal is keen to bring Fofana into their midfield, especially with Thomas Partey’s future uncertain. However, Manchester United is also closely monitoring the situation, ready to compete for Fofana’s signature.

Fofana, ahead of his EURO 2024 commitments with France, hinted at a possible exit from Monaco during a recent press conference. “I have spoken about it with the hierarchy, it isn’t a secret,” said the 17-cap international. “We had exchanges and they agreed to accompany me in this new stage. If [a move] doesn’t happen, I still have a year left and I will be happy to stay. We were in agreement that we would accompany each other in this process in which everyone should be a winner, be it me or the club.”

With his exceptional passing abilities and potential availability for a modest fee, Youssouf Fofana could be the key to unlocking Arsenal’s midfield potential and mounting a serious title challenge next season.
