“Even for Manchester United, he’s been 7.5 out of 10 every week. And that’s the one thing Man United haven’t had. They’ve had absolutely no consistency in their level of performance from most of their players, but I totally exclude McTominay from that.
“He might not have the skill or vision of somebody like Bruno Fernandes, but if you asked the Man United fans right now who would they want to keep in their squad, I bet you 90 per cent, or even more than that, would say Scott McTominay. And that’s a testament to how well he’s done at the club.”

McCoist is also optimistic about Scotland’s chances in Euro 2024. He confidently predicts that Steve Clarke’s side will advance from their group to reach the knockout stages. “Scotland are going to qualify from their group in Euro 2024, they’ll qualify from third place. I’m confident of that,” he said. “They’ll get the win that they need to reach the knockout stages.
“They’ll beat either Hungary or Switzerland to qualify. But I’m not sure Scotland will get much further than that unfortunately. But we’ll see how they do. It should be a great tournament.”
