Manchester United is preparing for a pivotal transfer window as the club seeks to chart a successful course forward under new management. With Ineos now making their influence felt, the first summer under their stewardship promises significant changes at Old Trafford.

Despite an eighth-place finish last season, and regardless of the FA Cup final outcome, fresh talent is essential to revitalize the squad. Newly appointed technical director Jason Wilcox has been diligently identifying potential transfer targets, readying the club for crucial business.

One name frequently linked with United is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, who impressed during the Eagles’ recent victory over Manchester United. The club’s scouts and hierarchy are unanimous in their approval of the Palace forward. Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed to The United Stand, “Manchester United have approved this possibility in terms of scouting him. The player is 100 per cent approved internally.”

However, Romano also highlighted the competition for Olise, noting, “The real problem there is the competition. Many clubs are interested in Olise.” Without Champions League football to offer, and possibly no European football at all, United faces a tough battle. Competing clubs might offer the European stage that United currently cannot, and under Ineos, the club is unlikely to splurge on wages.

Romano clarified that United’s interest in Olise is still in its early stages, stating, “They have still not started advanced negotiations.” While Olise is a desirable addition, United must prioritize other positions.

Last summer, United invested heavily in Mason Mount despite having greater needs in other areas, complicating the rest of their transfer dealings. This year, the club operates under a tight budget with significant gaps to fill at centre-back and striker, and likely needing a new left-back as well.

Midfield reinforcements are also crucial, especially if Casemiro departs, making a winger like Olise seem like a luxury. The pressing question remains whether there will be sufficient funds for Olise, and equally important, whether he will still be available amid the intense competition for his signature.
